FAQ's


1. Do you offer layaway program for merchandise?
Yes.  30% down pay every two (2) weeks on the account to keep in good standing.

2. What form of payments do you accept?
U.S Currency, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Travelers’ Checks

3. What is the meaning of the ratings for felt and straw western hats?  For example, what is 4x or 1000x?
Is a very old rating system starting in the 1800’s to indicate the value and quality for the dollar?  However, there is not an industry standard for the rating system, it is inconsistent among vendors.  It is true the greater the x-count, the higher the quality of the hat.

4. Does the store offer hat shaping and/or cleaning services?
Yes.  We offer free hat shaping for all hats purchased at our store.  For a small fee, we shape hats that were not bought at this store.  We strive to do hat shaping immediately, while the customer is shopping in the store.  Hat cleaning service is offered from Mon-Fri, and usually takes 2 business days to complete.  Some vendors (Resistol & Stetson) offer hat renovation for hats of 15X and above.  This service includes a new band, lining, sweatband and dry cleaning.  If needed blocking, refinishing and repowdering is also done.  The original buckle set is put back on the hat.  Service takes six (6) to eight (8) weeks to complete.  Price varies according to the condition of the hat.  A quote can be given to the customer prior to sending it to the vendor for services.

5. What boot sizes do you carry?
We can special order boots in a range of sizes and widths, and specialize in custom-fit boots.  However, our general boots sizes are:
Men’s:         
Sizes 7-15.        Width B,D,E,EE

Woman’s:    
Sizes 5-11.            Width B, C.

Children:      
Sizes 8 ½ through 13 ½.   Width D.

Youth:         
Sizes 1 through 6.              Width D.

Infants:        
Sizes 4 through 8.              Width D.

International conversion for international sizes can be estimated by adding 1 full size to a Men’s boot measurement, and 3 sizes to a Lady’s boot measurement.

6. Does your store offer Boot Repair and/or Renovation Services?
Yes.  We offer repair services for your boots.  We will give you an estimate of the service cost and the expected time the service will take.  Each situation is different, as well as the associated costs.  Some vendors offer factory renovation.  Prices and availability for their service varies.  Just ask us and we can get information to help you make a decision.

7. What some general guidelines to care for my boots?
Boots should be cleaned and cared for about once every six (6) months.  If they have not been worn, they should be dusted to avoid build-up in the pores of the leather.  If your boots get extremely wet, allow them to dry naturally.  Do not set wet boots in direct sunlight or by a heat source such as a heater.  After they have dried, use the appropriate care for your boots according to the type of leather.

Boot care products can also be divided into general groups.  The use of these products depends upon the type and age of the leather.

 

Paste Wax.  Generally not a good product for leather due to the build-up of was on the surface of the boot.  Wax may not allow the leather to breathe, causing it to eventually crack & split.  If wax is used, is should be stripped away on a regular basis.

Cream Polish.  Generally, the best polish to use on leather.  It contains 2% dye, which may cover up scratches in colored leather. It cannot cover scratches on leathers such as Range Hide or Bone Colors.

Saddle Soap. This is a cleaning agent only.  It does not contain oil or conditioner.  Used alone, it can dry out the leather.  If saddle soap is used on leather, it should be  followed with some type of conditioner

Mink Oil or Neat’s Oil Pure.  Not a highly recommended product

 
8. If I cannot find a particular item in your store or on the web site, can you help me find the item?
We work very hard in meeting all customers’ expectations, even when we do not have the items in the store, do not have the size or color needed, or the customer wants a unique, one-of-a-kind item.  We have an entire service devoted to ‘Special Orders’ , built around searching for these types of customer requests.  We will work with our vendors to get the item or to create the item, and in many cases we are successful in getting the customer exactly what they wanted.  We have a wide-range of national vendors, fashion designers and local artisans committed to these services.  ‘Just Ask Us’ and we will get to it….

9. What is your return policy?
The item must be in good/unused condition, original tags intact, accompanied by the receipt.   A customer can return an item for full-refund within two (2) weeks from date of purchase.  A refund will be given according to the original form of payment.  After the two (2) weeks period has elapsed, a ‘store-credit’ will be issued to the customer to be used at any time in the store on online at www.RanchAtTheRim.com.  The store-credit does not expire.

10. How do I find my hat size?
This is a tricky one.  We have general guidelines to convert head measurements into a hat size, but head shapes vary so the measurement is not always a good fit.  We always recommend the customer try on hats to find the size & shape that is best. That said, here is our general guidelines to measure the head about 2” above the ears;

11. How do I determine the right size for jeans and a belt?
Generally speaking the waist size can be used to find the closest size for your jeans & belt.  However due to the different ‘rises’ in the jeans, the waist size may not be the only factor to determine the jean size.   We find this chart to be helpful to find sizes for our customers:

12. Is there a sizing chart for children?
Yes!  We use this information to find the correct sizes for our young shoppers…

14. How are internet or phone orders shipped?
We ship orders via UPS (ground, 2nd day air, or next day air) except for orders placed with APO and FPO addresses. APO and FPO orders only are shipped via United States Postal Service (USPS). For USPS shipments, please allow 6-10 working days for your order to ship.  Currently, we do not ship out the continental U.S.

15. Can I check the status of my order once it is shipped?
Yes. The E-mail confirmation that we send to you contains a link that will allow you to check the status of your order on-line. A tracking number will be provided for your use.

16. What are the different types of toe shapes available in boots?
J-Toe: Sharper toe in appearance versus the R-toe with a rounded tip;
U-Toe: very round and broad in appearance;
R-Toe: The most commonly offered and chosen in western boots with medium round toe;
Roper Toe: more round than the R-toe, but is the toe on all Roper style boots.
X-Toe: sharp pointed toe
Chip Toe: very blunt and squared off toe.

 

 

17. What are the benefits of registering on your site?

18. Can I return an item purchased online to the store?
As long as an item was purchased on www.RanchAtTheRim.com, You may return the purchase to the store. You must bring the receipt included with your order for the return to be accepted.
